I used to have an Accord hatch. It was a great car. I say NP for this. You can certainly do a lot worse for $2500.

Side note, never seen that color on this gen Accord before. I wonder if it’s a repaint.

That’s what I was thinking, it’s a hell of a lot of car for 2500. These are 300,000 mile cars if cared for. It is an interesting color, I haven’t seen it either.

Wow that’s nice. The second car I ever drove was my Brother’s 89 LXI sedan. It automatic, but it was still was fun. The 2.2(2.3?) liter 12 valve engine is torquey and has a nice sound to it.

And the fact that this is a 5 speed, I would honestly have no issues in hopping in this car and taking it on a long trip. They’re about as reliable as they get. The biggest weak point was Honda’s automatic. Mine was an automatic and was the one thing I disliked about it. Otherwise, rock solid reliable. Just make sure that the timing belt was done (interference engine).

I think a better question is why not. The only acceptable answers I can think of are “I don’t have 2500 dollars.” And “I already one at least one awesome old school Honda.”

Wow. I love that.

Part of me wants to do Restomods on these old Accord hatchbacks and coupes... You know, a set of tasteful 16" mesh wheels (perhaps some Enkei 92s), a supercharged K24/6m swap with upgraded suspension, and a semi-quiet, but still kind of menacing exhaust.

Add a tastefully upgraded interior with power leather seats and a decent stereo.

But then I realize I have neither the money or the skills to make that happen.

My mom had an 88 LXi coupe for about 10 years or so - can confirm, it was a fantastic car. Everything you need, nothing you don ’ t.

That’d be slick. I’d just find a set of good springs and shocks for it, maybe some sway bars, a nice set of 15" wheels and a mild exhaust but leave the rest stock and keep the original parts. Nothing irreversible.

I dated a young woman in the 90s who had a red DX auto hatch, and a friend had a gold LXi 5-speed hatch with the sunroof. These were some of the best vehicles made in the late 80s.
